PURPOSE:To detect the rotating speed of a compressor regardless of the type of a shaft sealing device by providing a part to be detected on a driving shaft and also providing an electromagnetic induction type detector opposite the part to be detected. CONSTITUTION:A rotor 5 coupled with the driving shaft 4 made of a magnetic material is arranged on a main compressor body 3 and the shaft 4 is supported rotatably on side blocks 2a and 2b through radial bearings 6a and 6b. The part 36 to be detected which is made of a magnetic material is provided on the flank of the shaft 4 and the electromagnetic induction type detector 37 is provided opposite the part 36 to be detected. Therefore, when the shaft 4 rotates, the part 36 to be detected also rotates at the same time and its rotating speed is detected by the detector 37. Thus, the part 36 to be detected is provided on the shaft 4 and then the rotating speed of the compressor is detected regardless of the type of the shaft sealing device.
