PURPOSE:To improve the water resistance and secondary adhesion of a paint film formed on an alloyed galvanized steel sheet by forming an Fe-Zn intermetallic compound having a prescribed average grain size in the uppermost part of the alloyed Zn layer. CONSTITUTION:A galvanized steel sheet is introduced into an alloying furnace, where the Zn layer is alloyed so that an Fe-Zn intermetallic compound having <=1.3mum average grain size is formed in the uppermost part of the alloyed Zn layer. A paint film formed on the alloyed galvanized steel has superior adhesion.
