摘要 PURPOSE:To have a neutral light absorption spectral characteristic by forming a cathode side coloring layer of an electrochromic element of a bipolar coloration type as a non-coloring layer or replacing the same with a material which makes reversible oxidation-reduction reaction and is non-coloring in both states. CONSTITUTION:This fully solid-state electrochromic element is constituted by successively laminating the 1st electrode 2 consisting of a conductive film, an electrochromic layer which is an anode side coloring layer 3, an insulating layer 4 consisting of a conductor film and the 2nd electrode 5 consisting of a conductor film or further laminating the 2nd electrochromic layer which is a cathode side coloring layer 6 between the insulating layer 4 and the 2nd electrode 5. The electrochromic material having the neutral light absorption spectral characteristic is used as the anode side coloring layer. The cathode side coloring layer is formed by making a non-coloring treatment or using the non-coloring material which makes reversible oxidation-reduction in place of the reduction colorable material of the cathode side coloring layer. The optical modulating element having the neutral light absorption spectral characteristic in a visible light region is thus obtd.
