PURPOSE:To simplify the coating stage in the production of the titled magnetic card, to remarkably enhance the economization, and to improve the yield by forming one mixed magnetic layer with use of a hard magnetic material having high coercive force and a soft magnetic material having low coercive force. CONSTITUTION:The hard magnetic material 2 and the soft magnetic material 3 are mixed in a solvent, and the coating soln. is coated by a coater on a card substrate 1 to produce the mixed magnetic layer 4. When recording is carried out on the magnetic card thus formed by using a magnetic head, the hard magnetic material 2 can be recorded since the coercive force is high and residual magnetization remains, and the soft magnetic material 3 cannot be recorded since the coercive force is low. When the recording magnetic field is removed, the magnetic flux from the hard magnetic material 2 is short-circuited by the soft magnetic material 3, hence the magnetic flux is not leaked to the outside of the mixed magnetic layer 4, and reproduction cannot be performed with an ordinary magnetic head. A magnetic field enough to saturate the soft magnetic material 3 with magnetization is impressed to carry out reproduction.
