PURPOSE:To locate a magnetic head with good accuracy by elastically energizing a lead screw by an elastic energizing means on >=two support faces at least and moving a carriage by the driving force from the lead screw with its guide. CONSTITUTION:A lead screw 28 is elastically energized so as to cause no chattering by abutting to >=two support faces 29, 30. Namely a head carriage 26 is supported without any chattering by the lead screw 28 while clamping it by >=two support faces 29, 30. No moment is caused on the head carriage 26 because of being transferred with the lead screw 28 itself as the guide. The head carriage 26 is therefore not inclined, a magnetic head 25 is located at the prescribed position and no twist is caused as well due to no moment being generated on the head carriage 26.
