PURPOSE:To prevent management information from being lost due to power failure of the equipment by reading management information, converting it into an image data in case the management information stored in management information area B of a file is not outputted, compressing the data and storing it in a text storage area A of the file so as to make the management information area B idle. CONSTITUTION:In printing out management information after a specified number of times, e.g., 50 times, of communication is finished, if recording paper runs short or recording paper is jammed and no printout is enabled, the main control section 14 reads the management information (code signal form) stored in the system data area B of the file 5 so far, converts it into the image data and inputs the result to a compression/restoration section 4. The section compresses the management information converted into the image data. Further, the compressed management information is stored in the area A of the file 5. The information is stored in the same area with the same signal form as that of a received text and the area B of the file 5 is made idle. The succeeding new management information is stored in the rear B of the file 5 as it is.
