PURPOSE:To enhance the measuring accuracy of a freezing thickness on the basis of the outputs of a main electrode and an auxiliary electrode, by winding a fine electric conductor around an electric insulating rod having heat conductivity approximate to that of the ice erected on the surface of a freezing pipe in a double spiral state to form a main electrode part and providing an auxiliary electrode part to the leading end of said main electrode part. CONSTITUTION:A metal fine wire low in high conductivity is wound around the surface of an electrode insulating rod 1 having heat conductivity approximate to that of ice as a fine electric conductor in a double spiral state to form a main electrode 2. Further, an auxiliary electrode 3 having a unit length is formed to the leading end part of the main electrode 2 in the same state and the terminals of both electrodes are connected to a lead wire 4. The detection terminals having this structure are mounted on a freezing pipe 5 by a mount band 8. The outputs of the detection terminals of both electrodes can follow freezing and melting ice always accurately and operation is performed on the basis of said outputs in a control box, and a freezing thickness indicator and an alarm buzzer for excessive freezing can be operated.
