PURPOSE:To allow the operator to recognize a recording area corresponding to an input picture easily by recording a mark distinguishing a recording area from a space area to a recording medium in case the size of the input picture is smaller than the size of recording paper. CONSTITUTION:At the time of a demodulated picture data is prepared in a reception buffer memory 3, a control section 2 is transited to a recording control procedure to decide the received picture size at first. Then the signal is written in a B4 size line buffer memory 4 or 5. In this case, if the size of reception picture is A4, a white data corresponding to the space is written. Succeedingly, whether or not the recording paper loaded to the equipment is B4 size or not is decided, and if the size is B4, one or several dots of black data are written in the boundary area between the space area of the line buffer 4 or 5 and the area writing the reception picture of A4 size. Thus, the recording area and the space area are recorded in solid lines and the job required for the arrangement such as cut-off of recording paper is facilitated.
