PURPOSE:To aim at smoothly and precisely sorting goods, by making blank a number indicator one ahead of a sorting pocket for goods so that goods subsequent to the number indicator are regarded to be new, and by stopping a main conveyer for new goods on the take-in conveyer side when an erroneous sorting is detected. CONSTITUTION:When each module receives a sorting data, a 'BUSY' or 'On- Processing' status is set and a number indicator in each module is made to be blank. When a potoelectric sensor 13 detects goods, the mode of indication is set to indicate an instructed sort number. If the goods are those to be sorted, a sorting belt 16 is driven, and after completion of sorting of all goods, the 'BUSY' status is reset. That is, the instant module sets a 'Ready' status which is transmitted to a control device. Then, if an erroneous sorting occurs so that bumps of goods are anticipated at a sorting position, conveyers subsequent to the position, including modules remaining in the BUSY state, are left to be as they are, and a drive motor for a main conveyer in the vicinity of a take-in conveyer 9 is stopped to perform a normal treatment.
