PURPOSE:To prevent a person from repeatedly calling a wrong party by stopping an automatic retransfer if an answer back tone from a reception side is not returned. CONSTITUTION:An original to be transmitted is read by a reading part 11 and stored in a temporary storage device 12. A manual operation part 13 dials or an automatic dial device 14 dials to call an opposite device through a control part 15. A connection recognizer 16 monitors the state of a communication line L, and when connection fails because of a busy state, or when it is completed to return the answer back tone from the opposite device, the recognizer 16 will not transmit a signal. However if the answer back tone is not returned in spite of the completion of connecting the circuit, the recognizer 16 supplies a retransfer inhibition signal to the control part 15 to stop the automatic retransfer. At that time, a display 17 displays that the automatic retransfer stops.
