PURPOSE:To orderly collect sheets of paper by detecting the timing at which a sheet of paper which has been sent in is taken into a space between the vanes of an impeller and the phase of rotation of said impeller, and providing a space in which a sheet of paper is not inserted. CONSTITUTION:Sheets of paper 8 are conveyed by endless belts 1, 3 which are set around pulleys 2, 12 and 4, 12 respectively, and the passage of the sheets of paper is detected by sensors 9a, 9b. The sheets of paper 8 are housed in between flexible vanes 5a, 5a' and 5b, 5b' provided on a rotating impeller 5 and moved as 8a, 8a', and are made fall into a collecting case 7 by means of a stopper 6 and collected. The phase of rotation of the impeller 5 is detected by an encoder 11. And, by operating the outputs of sensors 9a, 9b and the output of the encoder 11, the rotation of the impeller is controlled in such a way that a sheets of paper is inserted into every other space between the vanes. Thereby, the sheets of paper can be orderly collected while preventing interference between a sheet of paper and the following sheet of paper in a space between vanes.
