PURPOSE:To shorten printing time where the number of line feedings is large, by providing a selecting means for selectively supplying a printing medium according to a designation by a selection-designating means for designating whether a vertically long form setting or a laterally long form setting is to be used, and a conversion-controlling means for converting printing data conforming to the vertically long form setting into printing data conforming to the laterally long form setting when the laterally long form setting is designated. CONSTITUTION:In using a slip as a printing paper, when a vertically long form setting is designated by a selection-designating means 18, a vertically long form printing medium 26 is supplied from a paper-supplying part 27 by a selective supplying means 28, and printing is conducted based on an ordinary vertically long form setting. In printing a document requiring a large number of line feedings or printing graphics or the like, a laterally long form is selectively designated by the means 18, and a laterally long form printing medium 26 is supplied from the paper-supplying part 27 by the selective supplying means 28. Each one-line amount of printing data conforming to lateral writing on a vertically long form are converted into printing data in the state of being rotated 90 deg. from the original state, the converted printing data are read, and are printed based on the laterally long form setting. Accordingly, printing time in printing a document requiring a large number of line feedings can be shortened.
