PURPOSE:To improve the continuity of a low frequency luminance signal and a high frequency luminance signal of a reproducing video signal, by controlling independently a low frequency converting signal and an FM demodulating signal, respectively, and executing correction of a time base, correction of a processing time difference, and conversion of the polarity. CONSTITUTION:From a reproducing video signal, an FM conversion low frequency video signal YLFM and a low frequency conversion high frequency video signal YHD are separated, by a BPF 19 and an LPF 20, respectively, the signal YLFM is demodulated to the original signal YL by an FM demodulating circuit 21, and a time base error is eliminated by a time base correcting circuit (TBC) 22. The signal YHD is converted to the original signal YH through a TBC 23, and a frequency converting circuit 33, collected to one system by an adding circuit 35, and outputted. From the signal YL, a pilot signal is extracted by a pilot extracting circuit 26, and by using a PLL 25, a sampling clock is sent to A/D converters 22-1, 23-1. On the other hand, a write signal generating circuit 24 generates address signals 29, 30 on a RAM for storing a sampling data, and sends them to RAMs 22-2, 23-2. Readout signal generating circuits 28-1, 28-2 control independently readout addresses of the RAMs 22-2, 23-2.
