PURPOSE:To simplify structure and reduce the dimension of the device by turning and engaging a selecting member with a link member at a specific position and carrying out the prescribed speed change operation by shifting the both members in the shift direction. CONSTITUTION:When an engaging shaft 15 is turned by the transfer of a driving member, and an engaging projection 14 and an engaging groove 19b are engaged, the 3rd-4th speed is selected, and when a selecting rod 11 is retreated by lin the Y-direction, and the projection 14 is turned counterclockwise by an angle theta, the projection 14 is engaged with an engaging groove 18a, and the shift operation to the 5th-6th speed is permitted by transferring a shift rod 9 in the X- direction. When the rod 11 is advanced by +l in the Y-direction, and the projection 14 is turned clockwise by +theta, the projection 14 is engaged with an engaging groove 20a, and the shift operation of the 1st-2nd speed is permitted by transferring the rod 9 in the X-direction. Further, when the projection 14 is turned clockwise by 2theta by advancing the rod 11 by +2l in the Y-direction, the projection 14 is engaged with a groove 22b by the turn of a selecting member 13, and a link member 22 is turned, and the retreat shift is completed by the transfer of a shift fork 8 in the X-direction.
