PURPOSE:To attain the collective centering processing with plural lines within a document range by designating said range where the centering is desired in the centering processing. CONSTITUTION:A document including the character strings, etc., supplied by a key input device 1 is stored in a document memory device 2. Then this stored document is partially designated by a range designating device 3. This partial document designated with a range is shifted toward the center position of a line by a shift processor 4. The result of this centering shift is outputted to the device 2 and the contents of the device 2 are displayed on a display device 5 via a display controller 6.
