PURPOSE:To find the accurate time of a peak through a simple arithmetic operation by calculating the point where a straight line connecting difference values of two successive sampling data crossing a time base and deciding the time of the peak point based upon the point. CONSTITUTION:A CPU puts a sampling circuit SP in operation to input the output signal of a detector D to a RAM through an A/D converter and then executes a processing program stored in a ROM. Then, a difference S(0)=H(0)-H(1) is calculated by using the time (t) from the point of sample introduction to the current point of time, a sampling interval DELTAt, current sampling data H(0), and last sampling data H(1). This operation is carried on until the S(0) becomes negative and the peak time P is calculated from an equation. Thus, the difference between the sampling data and a linear conversion expression for the difference are processed to reduce the quantity of necessary arithmetic operation greatly as compared with a quadratic approximation system and the time of the peak point can be found with time accuracy higher than a sampling rate within the ability range of a microprocessor.
