PURPOSE:To obtain a thin magnetic film having excellent characteristics by laminating a magnetic PtMnSb layer and vertically magnetized film on a substrate. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic PtMnSb layer is exemplified by PtxMnySbz (0.1<=x, y, z<=0.6, x+y+z=1), PtxNiyMnzSbt (0.05<=x, z, t<=0.6, 0.01<=y<=0.10, x+y+z+t=1). On the other hand, the vertically magnetized film is the film having the magnetization perpendicular to the film plane and is formed of, for example, a rare earth ferrous amorphous magnetic material, MnBi, MnCuBi, etc., which are obtd. by a known method. The thin rare earth amorphous film is exemplified by TbFe, TbFeCo, TbCo, DyFe, DyFeCo, GdFe, etc. The film thickness of the magnetic PtMnSb layer is selected from about 100-1,000Angstrom . On the other hand, the film thickness of the vertically magnetized film is selected from about 500-5,000Angstrom . The magnetic PtMnSb layer is preferably disposed on the liminous flux incident side of the medium at the time of laminating said layer and the vertically magnetized film.
