PURPOSE:To obtain optimum brake torque at all times by discriminating a road condition according to the output of various sensors for detecting a car driving condition, and changing the effective bore of a hydraulic pipe on the basis of the result of the discrimination. CONSTITUTION:There are provided a car body vibration sensor 1 for generating a d.c. current signal corresponding to the vertical motion of the car body, and a car speed sensor 3 for generating the number of pulse signals in proportion to car speed. The output signal of the car body vibration sensor 1 is converted into a digital signal through an A/D converter 2 and inputted to a CPU 5. The output signal of the car speed sensor 3 is measured with a timer 4 in respect of a cycle and inputted to the CPU 5 as a digital signal. And the CPU 5 discriminates road conditions having large and small coefficients of friction from the input signal and controls solenoids 7 and 8 fitted to a hydraulic pipe via a driver 6, according to the result of the discrimination, thereby causing the fluctuation of hydraulic pipe effective bore and subsequently brake bar torque.
