PURPOSE:To facilitate the installation and variation of a traction device for carrier vehicles in a product assembly station and the crossing of a carrier vehicle, by providing an engaging and receiving section in a slidable belt and by providing a downward retractable hook on the vehicle side. CONSTITUTION:When a belt 1 is reciprocated back and forth by a predetermined stroke, a hook pin 5 provided downward on the carrier vehicle 4 side hooks in the rear side edge of an engaging section 2 in the belt at the vertical side 5c of an engaging section 5a of the hook pin 5, and therefore, the carrier vehicle 4 is advanced together with the belt 1. Further, during retraction of the belt, the inclined side 5b of the hook pin 5 rides on the leading side edge of a latching receiver 2 so that the hook pin 5 is elevated, and therefore, the engagement between both members are released so that the belt 1 alone retracts. With this arrangement, the installation and change of the traction device may be facilitated and the crossing of a carrier vehicle may be also facilitated since there is no projecting parts on a rail.
