PURPOSE:To entirely eliminate the ignition failure due to the dispersion of the amount of gas by a method wherein the range of discharging spark is widened by providing an intermediate pole, which is electrically insulated from both a plus pole and an earthed pole, in a space between the plus pole and the earthed pole. CONSTITUTION:A plus pole 2, which is connected to a high tension generating means 1, and an intermediate pole 3 are fixed to an insulator 5 at a space distance (a) across which discharging spark can travel between them. A gas burner 4 is installed at a space distance (b) across which discharging spark can travel between the burner 4 and the intermediate pole 3. The intermediate pole 3 is electrically insulated from the plus pole 2 and the gas burner serving as an earthed pole. The discharging spark travels from the plus pole 2 to the intermediate pole 3 and further from the intermediate pole 3 to the gas burner 4. When the amount of gas jetted from the gas burner 4 is small, ignition occurs by the discharging spark traveling between the intermediate pole 3 and the gas burner 4. When said amount is larger, ignition occurs by the discharging spark traveling between the plus pole 2 and the intermediate pole 3. In other words, realization of discharging spark within a wider range of a+b can ensured ignition despite the dispersion of the amount of gas jetted from the gas burner.
