PURPOSE:A hair cosmetic, containing a branched quaternary ammonium salt, fat or oil and nonionic cellulosic derivative and having little oiliness and improved smoothness, softness and antistatic effect as well as good stability. CONSTITUTION:A hair cosmetic obtained by containing (A) 0.01-20wt% (A1) compound expressed by formula I {R is (i) formula II (R3 is CH3 or C2H5) or (ii) CH3-(CH2)n; m+n is 8-6 and branching ratio thereof [(i)/(i+ii)] is 10-100; R1 and R2 are benzyl, 1-3C alkyl or hydroxyalkyl; X<-> is halogen ion or organic anion} or (A2) compound expressed by formula III (R4 and R5 are 2-16C alkyl; R6 is formula IV or 1-3C alkyl), (B) 0.1-30wt% fat or oil, e.g. higher alcohol, fatty acid monoglyceride, etc., and (C) 0.05-5wt% compound expressed by formula V [R7-R9 are H, (CH2CH2O)m, H (m' is 1-5), CH3 or C3H6OH; n' is 50-5,000].
