PURPOSE:To enable a high speed data processing for the formation of a sound image with a quick computation processing of an input waveform, by converting an acoustic signal into an electrical signal to be filtered with a filter while an effective value of the input waveform is determined with an effective value circuit. CONSTITUTION:A microphone array 5 receives sounds generated from a sound source object with microphones 5a arranged side by side in a matrix to be converted into electrical signals corresponding to acoustic signals thereof and provides the resulting signals to a data processor 9. The data processor 9 is quipped with a filler 12 which allows the passage of a desired frequency component among signals sent from respective channels at the microphones 5a, an effective value circuit 13 which is connected to the filter to output a voltage signal according to an effective value of an output signal thereof and a signal selector 14 which is connected to the effective value circuit 13 by switching to read out a signal sequentially from the effective value circuit 13. Thus, a data conversion processing is performed by a data processor 9 to form a sound image of sounds to be generated from a sound source object.
