NEW MATERIAL:A 1,4-dihydropyridine derivative of formula I (X<1> and X<2> are H, fluoromethyl, fluoromethoxy, halogen, cyano or nitro; Y is alkylene; R<1> is lower alkyl; R<2>, R<3> and R<4> are H, alkyl, aralkyl, aryl, alkoxycarbonyl, aryloxycarbonyl, arylalkoxycarbonyl alkanoyl, arylcarbonyl or arylalkanoyl; R<2> and R<3> or R<3> and R<4> may together form a cyclic structure) and its acid addition salt. EXAMPLE:2-(1,2-Dimethylhydrazine)-ethyl ethyl-2,6-dimethyl-4-(m-nitrophenyl)-1,4- dihydropyridine-3,-5-dicarboxylate. USE:A remedy and preventive for hypertension, ischemic cardiopathy and various other circulatory diseases. PREPARATION:The compound of formula I can be produced by reacting the compounds of formula II, formula III and formula IV.
