PURPOSE:To make it possible to decide the presence or absence of detection of a guide belt and hue of the guide belt by providing a detecting means, a spectral means, a light receiving means and a decision means and comparing the quantity of reflected light and preset hue information of the guide belt. CONSTITUTION:In an automatic traveling vehicle 1 having a detecting section 5 provided with a light source and a detecting means that detects light L emitted from the light source 7 and reflected by a plane of projection, a means that separates the reflected light L into plural wavelength, a means that receives separated light and a means that decides the hue of a guide belt 2 are provided. A colored tape different in hue from the floor surface or a colored belt made with paint etc. is used as the guide belt 2. The reflected light L detected by the detecting section 5 is separated into plural wavelength, and fitness to preset hue information of the guide belt 2 is decided from comparison of the quantity of reflected light of each wavelength. Thereby, it is decided whether the detecting section 5 is detecting the guide belt 2.
