PURPOSE:To sharply simplify retrieving conditions at the time of information retrieval, by adding related key words in addition to the key words of an information retrieval system and registrating the related key words in a retrieving information data base. CONSTITUTION:A related key file 4, in which key word groups related to key words which are expected to be designated at the time of retrieval are stored, is provided and, when information is registrated in an information retrieval system, words suitable for retrieval are extracted as main key words out of the information inputted from an input device 1. When the same word as one of the main key word is registrated in the index section of the related key word file 4, the related key word corresponding to the main key word is read out and stored in a retrieving information data base 6 together with the main key word through a retrieving data registrating section 5. Therefore, the retrieving conditions can sharply be simplified at the time of information retrieval, resulting in the improvement in operability at the time of inputting and retrieving information.
