PURPOSE:To easily recognize an input keyword by displaying a keyword used for registering and retrieving information as a character on a screen. CONSTITUTION:A multiple item information input device 10 has nine keys to which keywords are allocated. A character information recording part 13 associates character information on the keyword with position data and stores them in a character information storage part 14 consisting of floppy disks. At the time of registering information, it is optically scanned by a scanner 1, temporarily stored in a picture memory 2, and displayed on a CRT 4 through a display memory 3. When the key in the multiple item information input device 10, which corresponds to the keyword regarding the information, is pressed, code data is generated, and temporarily stored in a code memory 11. Character information on the keyword corresponding to the code data is read to a character information reproducing part 15 from the character information storage part 14, and a signal is transmitted to a display control part 5. Then the keyword is displayed as a character on the CRT 4 through the display memory 3.
