PRODUCTION OF EXTERNAL PARTS

PURPOSE:To produce external parts having excellent ornamentality by anodizing the surface of a surface layer of the external parts essentially consisting of titanium, then partially nitriding the same by a laser in a nitrogen atmosphere, thereby forming the parts having a golden color. CONSTITUTION:A dial made of the titanium as stock is subjected to an anodizing treatment in an aq. soln. of about 3% oxalic acid to form a cobalt blue color on the surface. The dial 6 after the anodizing treatment is then put into a chamber 2. The atmosphere contg. nitrogen or essentially consisting of nitrogen introduced from a gas introducing port 5 is maintained in the chamber 2. The laser light 4 is irradiated through a window 3 to the above-mentioned dial 6 and the dial 6 is moved according to a prescribed pattern by an NC table 1. The golden color of the prescribed pattern is thereby formed on the anodized film, by which the diversification of the ornamentality of the dial 6 is attained.
