PURPOSE:To manufacture a connecting rod made from a metal plate which is formed into a cylinder as a whole by inserting a double flat-plate construction into a die, wherein said flat-plate construction is formed by compressing a cylinder as base material in the radial direction, and by allowing the specified part to expand out by means of injection of pressure liquid into said double flat-plate construction. CONSTITUTION:Base material for a connecting rod 1 of metal plate shall be in cylindrical form with circular profile, and this cylinder is compressed in the radial direction to for double flat-plate construction. Then this flat-plate construction is nipped by an upper 13 and a lower die 14. Between these dice 13, 14, a cavity 15 is formed which shall correspond to the form of a major end 4, a minor end 7 and the body 8 of connecting rod. Pressure liquid 17 is injected into this double flat-plate construction, which is expanded out. After removal of the pressure liquid 17 injected in the flat-plate constriction, other portions than the expansions 4', 7', 8' are cut off, and the upper and lower joints of these expansions 4', 7', 8' are welded together to give resultant form of the connecting rod 1.
