PURPOSE:To display a track number at the time of image picking up and reproducing on one display device by providing a track-number display device to display the number of a track to be recorded next at the time of image picking up, and using said display device for displaying the track number being in reproducing. CONSTITUTION:In the reproduction mode, in case an up switch 1U is pushed for (n) times, the output OUT of a counter 2U comes in (n), and the output OROUT of an OR gate comes in a high level, so that a pulse from an oscillator 8 is inputted to the U-terminal of a head position counter 5 and the D-terminal of the counter 2U via an AND gate 4U. Accordingly, by means of one piece of pulse from the oscillator 8, a counter 5 is made count up for one, and the counter 2U is made count down for one. Therefore, the output of the counter 2U comes to zero, and the input to the gate 4U is prohibited, and (n)-pieces of pulses only are inputted to the counter 5 so that a head unit 7 is shifted for an (n)-track length. The same as the above can be said of a down switch 1D. As a result, the output of the counter 5 is displayed in the track-number displayer 22 either in the image pickup mode or the reproduction mode.
