PURPOSE:To re-utilize the data without losing the data stored in the internal storage circuit of a key telephone set by replacing the data stored preserved at an external storage element and the data stored at an internal storage circuit in accordance with the necessity. CONSTITUTION:When an external storage element 30 is in inserted into a key telephone set, it is detected by an external storage element inserting detecting circuit 8 and inserting detecting information is communicated to a control circuit 5. The control circuit 5 controls an external storage element reading circuit 6 and transfers the information of the external storage element 30 to an internal storage circuit 4. From the transferred information, the control circuit 5 drives an indicator driving circuit 3, displays a part of the information at an indicator group 20 and makes respective indicators of the indicator group 20 and respective contact points of a button contact point group 10 correspond equally. When a telephone number is changed, a new name and a telephone number are transferred to the area of an internal storage circuit 4, and by the control of the control circuit 5, written, stored and preserved into the external storage element 30 through an external storage element writing circuit 7.
