PURPOSE:To directly appeal to vision by an appropriate display color by controlling the display contents and the display color of a multi-color indicator, based on control information from a telephone exchange equipment. CONSTITUTION:A message display character controlling circuit 12 receives a character display control signal in a signal from a telephone exchange equipment through an interface circuit 11, brings a multi-color indicator 14 to a driving control based on the character display control signal, and displays a character indicated by the character display control signal. On the other band, a message display color controlling circuit 13 brings the multi-color indicator 14 to a driving control, based on a display color control signal in a signal from the telephone exchange equipment through the interface circuit 11 and forms a display character to a color indicated by the display color control signal. In this way, for instance, a time display is diaplayed in black, and a call time display is diaplayed in black up to three minutes in order to prevent a long time telephone, and when three minutes have elapsed, a display character (numeral) can be varied into red.
