PURPOSE:To decide a layout good in a picture drawing efficiency without a multiplication by previously laying out the drawing position of an output drawing paper corresponding to desired output drawing data according to respective drawing sizes. CONSTITUTION:A pointer part 16 lays out based on size data in a sort memory 15. At first, the longitudinal lower side of the out put drawing paper is defined to be an X-axis and the width of the paper to be a Y-axis and a maximum size drawing having the origin of X- and Y-coordinates 0, 0 is assumed and laid out. Then, whether the layout drawing occupies the entire of the width of the output drawing paper or not is examined, when it =occupies the entire of the width, the X coordinate = the present value of X + the X direction length of the lay out drawing and the Y coordinate = 0 are defined to be a new layout origin and the drawing does not occupy the entire of the width of the paper, the X coordinate maintains the present value and the Y coordinate = the present value of Y + the Y direction length of the lay out drawing is defined to be a new layout origin. This processing is repeatedly executed on all the size data registered in the memory 15.
