PURPOSE:To ensure the wide opening of a cargo box, to lower a centre of gravity, and to facilitate control, by a method wherein a lever, releasing a roof with a side plate, is situated, rotation moment exerted on the lever by the roof with a side plate is balanced with rotation moment produced through the force of a spring attached below a load-carrying platform. CONSTITUTION:When a lever 4 is rotated to a horizontal position, a spring 7 is expanded, and a vertical rod 13 is motioned downward. The downward motion of the rod causes rotation of a link 13 and a lever 17, and a roof 2 with a side plate is lifted for opening. In this case, by balancing rotation moment, exerted on the lever 4 through a rod 9 through the force of the spring 7, with rotation moment, exerted on the lever 4 through the center of gravity of a roof 2 with a side plate, the lever 4 can be easily stopped at an arbitrary angle. This structure enables increase of the release height of a cargo box, and enables heavy cargo to be placed below the load-carry platform to lower the center of gravity of an automobile.
