PURPOSE:To shorten the time required for copying work by restarting copying work of an optical system moving mode being intermitted at the end of copying work based upon an original moving mode to be interrupting copying work. CONSTITUTION:At the time of copying work based upon the optical system moving mode, an original is set up on an original platen 4 and a mirror base 17 is forward- moved up to a prescribed position in the arrow A direction then restored in the arrow B direction. At the time of copying work based upon the original moving mode, an original sensing switch SW1 detects the tip of the original and the mirror unit 17 is stopped on a still position determined by a detecting switch SW4. During the execution of copying work based upon the optical system moving mode, ON or OFF of the switch SW1 is always checked after the end of the copying process of one cycle, and an original is set up on an original carrying device 61, interrupting copying work is judgeded to be set and the interrupted copying work based upon the optical system moving mode is executed. After the end of the interrupting copying work, copying data relating to the interrupted copying work based upon the optical system moving mode are read out and respective devices are restored to the original status.
