PURPOSE:To intend to stabilize the shoe clearance adjusting function by movably mounting a bimetal at the terminal thereof to a shoe therefore moving the mounted part of the bimetal every time the service brake is applied so that the mud adhered to the bimetal can be separated therefrom before dried and maintains the function of the bimetal. CONSTITUTION:When a pair of brake shoes 2 and 3 is opened by an actuator, linings 2a and 3a makes friction engagement with a drum D to apply a brake. Since a support rod 5, a bell crank 6 and so on are moved together with the shoe 3 by the force of a spring 11, if linings 2a and 3a are worned as much as the teeth 6b of a lever 6 are disengaged from the teeth 5b of the support rod 5, the lever 6 is turned clockwise through the center of a pin 7 so that the new teeth of the lever 6 are engaged with the teeth 5b of the support rod 5 to fill the clearance between the shoes 2 and 3. Every time the service brake is applied, a bimetal 15 is pushed by the arm 6a having a cam and oscillated on account of which if the mud adhered to the terminal part of the bimetal 15, the mud can be scratched off so that the function of the bimetal can be maintained for a long term and the shoe clearance adjusting function can be stabilized.
