PURPOSE:To easily and accurately measure the flexibility of hair by loading a hair bundle in the flow passage of fluid and finding variation in the pressure of the fluid across the hair. CONSTITUTION:A loading hole 3 for loading the hair bundle 2 at right angles to the flow passage 1 is formed at a proper position of the flow passage 1. Further, a sealing means 4 prevents the fluid from leaking out of the loading hole 3. Further, pressure sensor 5 and 6 are arranged in front of and behind the loading hole 3 to detect variation of the fluid across the hair bundle 2. The sensors 5 and 6 are installed at sufficient distance from the loading position of the hair bundle 2s so that no large pressure distribution is present in the sectional direction of the flow passage 1. Then, measured pressure data and flow velocity data measured by a flow meter 7 installed at a proper position of the flow passage 1 are processed by a data processor 8 such as an electronic computer to find the flexibility of the hair.
