The invention relates to a control which feeds a larger volume of fluid to the nozzles of the respective leading cutting roll (9 or 10) of a shearer loader (1) than to the nozzles of the trailing cutting roll (9 or 10). For this purpose, this control has a directional valve (40) controlled by the winch (6) of the shearer loader (1) as a function of the direction of travel of the machine. With the aid of a distributor (19), the sprinkling fluid fed to the shearer loader (1) is first of all divided into a number of part-streams. Two of these part-streams, which are of the same size, flow directly to the nozzles of one or the other cutting roll (9 or 10), while a further part-stream is additionally fed, with the aid of the directional valve (40) to the respective leading cutting roll (9 or 10). However, it is also possible to make available ahead of one inlet of the directional valve (28) a flow of fluid sufficient for the supply of the respective leading cutting roll (10 or 9) and, ahead of a further inlet of the directional valve (28), a flow of fluid sufficient for the supply of the respective leading cutting roll (9 or 10) and to feed these flows of fluid either to the trailing or the leading cutting roll (9 or 10) as a function of the direction of travel of the shearer loader (1) with the aid of the directional valve (28). <IMAGE>
