PURPOSE:To obtain the titled coating material, containing chitin and having powerful antifouling effect without any toxicity. CONSTITUTION:A coating material obtained by dissolving chitin expressed by the formula preferably in an aqueous solution of an acetate in 20-30wt% concentration and directly using the resultant chitin solution or containing a resin vehicle used for coating materials therein. For example, a fishing net, etc., is impregnated with the coating material.
