PURPOSE:To record and reproduce information to optical information recording media with a thin substrate thickness with a high reliability by focusing a recording and reproducing light to a recording layer on the substrate at an incident side of a light beam and the substrate at an opposite side. CONSTITUTION:Recording media in which a recording layer 2 is present on a substrate 1 and recording media in which a recording layer 2' is present on a substrate 1' are faced so that recording layers 2 and 2' can be inside, a focus 5 of a recording and reproducing light beam 4 is converged to the recording layer 2' on the substrate 1 at the incident side of the light beam and the substrate 1' at the opposite side for optical information recording media stuck through transparent media or a space 3 and to constitute a sandwich structure and the information is recorded and reproduced. As the result, for example, a beam diameter at a substrate surface 1 when the thickness of substrates 1 and 1' is 100mum and the sandwich structure is obtained through a space of 0.9mm is about 1mm, the influence of the scratch and dust of a substrate surface is hard to be received and the influence of the recording layer 2 does not also especially matter.
