PURPOSE:To easily execute a tracking control without using a magnetic head for a control especially, by executing the tracking control by obtaining the tracking servo-information from a track of one magnetic recording surface. CONSTITUTION:Head blocks 11, 12 slide-contact both faces of a magnetic disk 1, and driven 13 on the radius. A head 11A of the block 11 precedes 11B, and executes recording/reproduction of a track 2A. A gap 11Ag is a little wider than width Ta of the track 2A, and the head 11B has a gap 12Bg in the part corresponding to a servo-track 3A, and executes an erasing operation for controlling the width Ta. In this case, servo-signals f1, f2 of the track 3A are not erased. The head 12 is used for the face B. Switches 21, 22 are interlocked, select the heads 11A and 12B, or 11B and 12A, filter 23, 24 and detect 25, 26 servo-signal components f1, f2, and obtain a tracking error signal by a differential amplification 27. By amplifying 28 a difference between said signal and a position error correcting signal between the blocks 11, 12, the head is driven 13.
