A pressure vessel made from plastic reinforced with fibre material 24 has an essentially cylindrical middle part 10 and two end faces 11,12 and is provided with a lining (liner) 14. In the middle part, at least the majority of the fibre material situated closest to the lining is orientated in a tangential direction, whereas at least the majority of the fibre material disposed beyond this in the middle part is orientated in the axial direction with fibre material arranged in two criss-crossing directions, each of which forms an angle of between 15 degrees and 40 degrees with the generatrices of the middle part. The lining consists of a material having lower modulus of elasticity and higher break elongation than the fibre-reinforced plastic and is constituted preferably by a thermoplastic. In the manufacture of the pressure vessel, the lining is used as a mandrel for building up the fibre material through winding on the mandrel. To ensure that the lining herein maintains its shape, it is pressurized with a gas or liquid. <IMAGE> |
