PURPOSE:To remarkably extend the number of times of repeating of the erasure and the recording of an optical disk, by recording the change values of recording power and erasing power on an erasing optical disk, and correcting the values at need. CONSTITUTION:The rewrite of a test data is executed by changing recording optical beam power and erasing optical beam power respectively, and a recording/erasure operating point at which the number of errors of read data become less than a prescribed value is investigated, and a set value at that time is recorded in the managing area of the optical disk, then, it is set as the set value hereafter. The change of the set value is performed in such way that a read verify operation which reads out the forefront sector of the said file with a severer condition after the lapse of a constant time, or prior to the rewrite of the data, is executed at the time of exchanging the erasing disk, and the set value is set so as not to exceed a power range recorded in advance in the managing area. In such way, it is possible to set the recording/erasure operating point of the recording medium at the optimum level.
