PURPOSE:To reduce the processing time by using an image sensor so as to detect only a graphic of an input tow-dimension coordinate area of a designated original and increasing the relative moving speed between the image sensor and the original at areas other than the designated area. CONSTITUTION:In designating an input coordinate area S with respect to an original 13 placed on a table 1, a coordinate signal is processed by a sub CPU 27 and stored in a memory 28 as coordinate designation information. The CPU 27 uses a position detection means 25 corresponding to the movement of the original 13 to read sequentially the moving position signal, compares it with the coordinate designation information of the memory 28 and a high speed control command signal is given to the moving means 35 at areas O-A without coordinate designation. A cut-off control command signal is given to a photodetection means 17 and the original 13 is moved at a high speed and an output signal of the image sensor 14 is not converted by a converter 41. When the original 13 enters a designated area, the sub CPU 27 gives a low speed control command signal to the carrying means 35 and gives a drive control command signal to the photodetection means 17.
