PURPOSE:To facilitate manufacture and to reduce a cost by transducing strain generated on the surface of a rotary shaft owing to torque into variation in the magnetic permeability of amorphous magnetic alloy and detecting it as variation in the inductance of a coil. CONSTITUTION:The amorphous magnetic alloy 2 which has magnetic strain is fixed on the surface of the rotary shaft 1 which transmits the torque and a soft magnetic metallic layer 3 which has plural thin and long holes at a constant angle to the thrust direction of the shaft is formed on the surface of this amorphous magnetic alloy 2. The coil 4 is wound and fixed further outside concentrically with the rotary shaft 1 while a constant gas is left. The strain generated on the surface of the rotary shaft 1 owing to the torque is transduced into variation in the magnetic permeability of the amorphous magnetic alloy 2 and detected as variation in the inductance of the coil 4.
