PURPOSE:To obtain a shampoo composition capable of providing conditioning effects and smooth and dry touch in hair after hair washing, containing a specific hydroquinone derivative such as hydroxymonobenzyl ether, etc. CONSTITUTION:A shampoo composition is blended with preferably 0.01-5wt%, more preferably 0.1-3wt% hydroquinone derivative shown by the formula HO-Ph-OR (Ph is benzene nucleus; R is H, <=12C alkyl, alkenyl, phenyl or benzyl) to give a shampoo composition which can suppress creaking and entanglement of hair in rinsing, has excellent conditioning effects, leaves no unpleasant touch such as greasiness, stiffness, etc., of hair after washing and can provide smooth and dry touch.
