PRODUCTION OF PELLET FOR FINE POWDER RAW MATERIAL

PURPOSE:To produce pellets which are hardly degradable and have excellent reactivity by adding separately produced nuclear pellets of an intermediate size into a fine powder raw material into which premixing moisture is incorporated and pelletizing the mixture at the time of producing the pellets from the fine powder raw material. CONSTITUTION:Fine powder iron ore in which <=44mum grain sizes occupy >=80% is put together with about 10% premixing moisture into a pelletizer and the separately produced nuclear pellets of about 4-9mm consisting of the ball- shaped iron ore of the intermediate size having less ruggedness are mixed therein until 60/40-30/70 ratio to the fine powder iron ore is attained. A small amt. of water is added at 1-2% to such mixture and the mixture is pelletized by the pelletizer. The iron ore pellets of 15-20mm size which obviate degradation during handling and have an excellent reducing property are thereby produced.
