SMOKE SENSING DEVICE FOR DIESEL ENGINE

PURPOSE:To measure smoke amount accurately and provide precision control of the fuel injection by mounting a smoke sensor at the exhaust pipe of a diesel engine, and by installing a computation control device to control the fuel injection timing and the amount of injection. CONSTITUTION:A smoke sensor 11 is mounted on an exhaust pipe 6 of a diesel engine, in which current is generated when a smoke with electric charges passes. The output from an amplifier circuit 20 is connected with the input terminal of a peak value sensing circuit 24. Output terminal 46 of a multi-vibrator 40 is connected with another multi-vibrator 47 via a comparator 37. A computation control device 35 controls the fuel injection timing or the amount of injection in accordance with the output signal from said peak value sensing circuit 24. This enables precision measurement of the smoke amount to lead to accurate control of the fuel injection.
