PURPOSE:To simplify the construction of a foundation and shorten the term of construction and save the cost, by placing the multistage vessel unit caissons consisting of vessel unit caissons laminated integrally on the bank of the lower vessel unit caissons of big second-hand tankers and the like, on sea-bottom ground. CONSTITUTION:On the bank 1a of the lower vessel unit caissons of large cross section having the central cross section of the vessel unit parallel-sections of big second-hand tankers and the like, upper vessel unit caissons 1b using one-side tanks and the like are integrally laminated to compose multistage vessel unit caissons 1. Then, the multistage vessel unit caissons 1 are directly placed on sea-bottom ground 2, and the internal sections of the caissons are filled up with fill soil, and respectively on struts 5 erected on the upper vessel unit caissons 1b and the lower vessel unit caisson bank 1a, rails 4, 4' for a cargo crane 6 are arranged. As a result, the construction of a foundation can be extremely simplified, and the term of construction can be shortened, and the nonuniform settlement of the crane rails 4, 4' can be extremely reduced.
