PURPOSE:To attain color conversion and correction by using a less capacity of lookup table even if the number of bits of an image signal is larger than number of addresses of the lookup table by selecting the bit of an inputted image signal based on the relation of equation between 1st and 2nd digital image signals. CONSTITUTION:A storage means storing conversion information converting the 1st digital image signal into the 2nd digital image signal as the lookup table, and an image data conversion circuit inputting the 1st digital image signal to the address of the storage means and reading the conversion information from the storage means to convert it are provided, and the data generated by selecting bits of the 1st digital image signal based on the relation of equation of the 1st and 2nd digital image signals and the generated data is inputted to the address signal for the lookup tables 12-14. Even if the bit number of the address of the lookup tables 12-14 is not coincident with that of the image data, the image data using the lookup tables 12-14 is to be converted. Thus, the color reproducibility is improved.
