PURPOSE:To surely perform the recovery of a managing table, by recording the medium name and the storing cell address of a medium on an input/output device on an external memory at the time of performing the automatic loading of the medium. CONSTITUTION:At the time of performing the automatic loading of the medium, a loading control means 1 finds the storing cell address by referring to a medium managing file 5, and moves the medium from a cell 9 to the input/output device 7, and records the medium name and the storing cell address on the managing table 3. Furthermore, it informs the movement of the medium to a write out means 3, and performs the input/output of the medium on the input/output device 7. The write out means 3 updates information regarding the medium name and the storing cell address of the medium loaded at every input/output device 7 on the external memory 6 based on the above movement information. At the time of processing recovery when a system is started up, a recovery means 4 detects the presence/absence of the medium on each input/output device 7 by referring to the information on the external memory 6, and when the medium exists on the input/output device 7, it recovers the information on the managing table 2 by obtaining the medium name and the storing cell address of the medium.
